The fear of the Lord is to KNOW GOD as a just God.

Friday 9/5/2008

The reverent, worshipful fear of the Lord leads to life, and he who has it rests satisfied; he cannot be visited with [actual] evil.

"THE FEAR OF the Lord" is not the fear of someone crouching in a corner hoping that a tyrant won't see and punish them. The fear of the Lord Solomon describes is a sense of awe and reverence that comes from being exposed to the majesty and grandeur of God. The person who fears the Lord has moved beyond the intellectual acknowledgment of the attributes of God and recognizes that God in His Person stands for truth, purity, holiness, and justice.

To know in the depths of your heart that God is ultimate justice is to find life and hope and confidence. It is to know that God will reveal Himself and His will to you so clearly that you will know it is the true way. It is to know He is always doing the right thing in your life despite whatever adversity or twists and turns come into your life. What a blessing to know that your life is in God and that He is your refuge when the storms of life howl around you!
